A New Children's Book
Christmastime still seems a while off — way too early to start thinking about... Really, It's October 18 already, and I haven't even given any thought to Halloween!
But at this time, I'm reminded of last December,
because that's when Matthew and I started working on our new book, The Flower Boy and the Origami Christmas Tree.
Now complete, The Flower Boy and the Origami Christmas Tree
has been published, and people who bought some of the first copies have
enjoyed the whole ordering experience as well as the story and the
art. You can find out all
about this book, and all of my books, at my new website, kevinsbookshop.com.
I hope you enjoy the site, and pick up your own copy of this inspired book!
The Story Of The Flower Boy's Online Roots
It's so amazing to me how some of the most memorable stories start out as simple ideas.
Simply put, we were inspired by the readers of
Matthew's blog, Life in San Francisco, to write a simple story, make a book out of it, and to publish it for all to enjoy.
Now, the online saga continues on Life in San Francisco with a current entry also featuring the release of our new book!
The following story of the Flower Boy's creation is reprinted from the back page of the book:
It was Kevin’s idea...
Last December, on the way back from the dinner, we passed by a tree lot and purchased a big![]()

Christmas tree. However, we didn’t have any decent ornaments for
the tree. Kevin suggested me some idea. “Why don’t you ask
your blog readers to send us some origami ornaments?” I
updated a new entry on my blog “Life in San Francisco” , and a few days later, we started receiving many beautiful ornaments ![]()
The full effectfrom all over the world! Thank you so much!
We created this book to thank all of you who sent us beautiful ornaments.
All of us appear in this book. Yes, all of us! Kevin, me, and you! Hope you’ll enjoy this book.
Last but not the least, we thank Toshiko and Hiro to help us make this book happen. Thank you, both!

I just came back from Tokyo yesterday, and found that your blog had a new entry. I cannot believe that this wonderful Christmas tree was almost 1 year ago. I remember that I saw the photo of the tree at Matthew's site in Melbourne, which was in the middle of summer ! I remember that I was so proud(even though it was not my work) and showed it off to my friends. It was such a wonderful idea, and connected so many people, touched many people's heart, and brought lots of happiness. I already decided my Christmas present to my niece and friends this year. This would be such a memorable presents for them. Thank you for your great work.
