Room to Read San Francisco Chapter Vision
Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 10:59PM WELL, HERE'S A TREAT! It's rare I get to post the work I do professionally, and it's great to do an entry on one of my favorite organizations, Room to Read. Ever since hearing about their mission to expand global literacy, I've been volunteering to draw visual story murals, like the one above, for this great organization!
The illustration I've posted is the vision for the San Francisco Chapter. The San Francisco chapter's mission is to raise funds and get the word out in the Bay Area, to build libraries, publish books, put girls on scholarships, and build schools in Room to Read's expanding cadre of countries. The illustration above tells the story of how your participation in the Bay Area translates into real books, libraries, schools, scholarships, and literate children. And smiles! You've never seen a happier child than the one with a book in his or her hands!
Click on the illustration to see it larger, or find out all about Room to Read by clicking on the Room to Read link in the left column of this blog. Or even better, join me at the upcoming San Francisco Chapter event, and find out all about this incredible organization!
