Precious day with Yuki

LAST WEEK, I had the chance to meet two of Matthew's friends -- wonderful people who had been regular readers of his blog, 'Life in San Francisco.'  Although Matthew is no longer here, it felt very good to meet two people who have shared so many of my experiences -- especially since the memories we all shared were of time spent with Matthew.  Thanks to both of you for the time in Oakland, and in San Francisco!

I'm very fortunate that Yuki has shared her experience with us all.  We spent the day on Lake Merritt, and it was a day that would have made Matthew very happy.  It made me think of him, but it was not sad.  Yuki was very warm and open to me, and I felt that Matthew's love will never really leave those of us who hold it dear in our hearts.

Yuki: My Precious Day

Here's one picture from our day -- the hydrangea that I painted with Yuki.  This particular hydrangea was Matthew's favorite flower.  I'm not kidding, I mean that specific plant was a 'galaxy hydrangea' that he constantly refered to, visited, and loved.

Drawing the villain... what about an ABSTRACT villian?

Trying to come up with my own version of Darth Vader, Voldermort or the Goblin King as the demon who lurks behind the walls.  But it just doesn't seem like the current nightmare anymore to draw yet another mean guy with a big black cape.  So, maybe this villain -- who is, after all, just a concept, just an evil, morphing, changing scribble on the wall -- might be scarier if he was abstract?  Cubist, Burroughs, Pollock?
